How come people who say Starship will never fly just talk about how it won't be as cheap as everyone thinks, and not the fact that it is capable of putting 150 mT into LEO.

Even NASA admits that Starship will be able to put hundreds of tons into LEO. I don't think anyone believes Starship will never fly per se. It's just that not much criticism of Starship goes to its ability to be fucking huge, but that it might cost two or three hundred million.

So what if expendable starship costs half a billion dollars (this is a worst case scenario). It'll still put almost twice the payload of SLS into LEO for a quarter the cost.
