If you were to somehow transform all matter on earth into energy, and somehow transform all that energy into a single, mono-directional, concentrated burst of Gamma radiation, would it have it's own gravitational field?

So /Scientists/ I am doing a project/disseration on gamma-ray bursts and I am starting to write up a draft. I, myself, am somewhat lazy and as I am sure most of you are in the same boat as me, hate doing the background reading on what you have to write up. So /sci/ this is your time to shine. Show me what you know about Gamma-Ray Bursts. This is not a fag request so inb4 nt ur personal army. Ok, everybody knows that there are fucking gamma rays in the space right?

My question is what prevents the gamma rays from directly hitting the earth crust?

Some says the ozone layer blocks the gamma rays.
Some says the whole atmosphere does that.
who's right?

If our solar system is only about 4.5 billion years old, and this occurred 630 million years after the big bang, how were we even able to detect it?

Tell me about gamma ray bursts, /sci/. Are they really as unpredictable and devastating as I have been led to believe? Could a GRB wipe out humanity at any given time with no advance warning?

So, I heard a thing called gamma ray burster is targeting and going to destroy the earth soon. Or within the next thousand years. Or something.

Now I wonder: Is it gonna be the good kind of death that you don't even notice or something involving agonizing pain?

If a gamma ray burst was aimed at us, would we know that it was aimed at us before it destroyed us all???
