I love the Newton–Raphson method, before I knew of it I was a pleb that would take more than 3 minutes to solve a cubic and I'd never dream of solving shit like x=cos x. Newton-Raphson was probably the exact point where the sheer power of calculus hit me, and I feel truly blessed for it.

When did it hit you /sci/? When did you first see the amazing power of calculus?
