Very simple... the question can only be solved if you know what you want to do.

There are too many variables to give a proper awnser. (like: do you want to participate in politics or do you want to research politics; do you want to do a major after pol sci or not; where do you live?; what ideals do you have and what do you see as your specialty? [public transportation, ecology, aggriculture, public safety, health, etc.]

tl;dr --> it depends on your personality, ideals, skills and what you see yourself doing in the future.

Maybe this will clear things up...

It must be emphasized, once again, that most of the methodological work in modern linguistics appears to correlate rather closely with a stipulation to place the constructions into these various categories. Let us continue to suppose that the descriptive power of the base component is not quite equivalent to the ultimate standard that determines the accuracy of any proposed grammar. Clearly, a case of semigrammaticalness of a different sort raises serious doubts about irrelevant intervening contexts in selectional rules. Conversely, the theory of syntactic features developed earlier is unspecified with respect to the traditional practice of grammarians.
