>fully funded
if you're in stem there should be absolutely no reason not to have full funding for your phd at an R1 university (and if you're getting a phd from anything less than an R1 uni you're a fucking retard), much less an institution like Stanford, so I'm not sure why you feel the need to mention that, it should be a given. I go to bumfuck state university and still get a decent stipend.

t. just jealous that i've only ever attended public k-12 school and public state universities and thus will never amount to anything, will never have that shiny hypsmc tag next to my name, etc.

>Where from?
Depends on what you mean.

>Major
Mathematics and Computer Science.
Wish I could officially major in Physics (as a third) as well.

>Job?
nop. Unless you count being a student.

>Earnings?
A negative amount.

>What do you do?
Quite a lot. Eat occasionally. Read CVE. Listen to loud music during ridiculous times at night while reading Arxiv. Take apart old electronics to harvest breadboarding components. Listen to HAM-ies. Read useless, semi-outdated material on phreaking. Get mad at Arch for being an asshole. Spend ridiculous amounts of time on public transportation. Do coursework. Daydream about one day having my own lab to conduct my own research instead of having to be a yes monkey for old, cranky men.

>Like? Switch?
I do like what I'm studying. If something happened and for some reason I couldn't do Computer Science, I would definitely go for a program in Physics and Mathematics.

At least with an art degree, you'll be somewhat "cultured" and be able to live life more enjoyably, as you'll be able to criticize and analyze culture properly, and put those skills to use in everyday life.

You won't ever use any of the skills from a theoretical degree in math (same thing) in real life, nor in any science, nor anything else. There comes a point where the abstractness of math feels like it was just made up to exist, by bored mathematicians — it's useless.

With a degree in theoretical mathematics you are actually less employable than an artist. An art degree isn't a tag that says I don't like interacting with people.

If you're going to get an unemployable degree, at least go for something that will make life more enjoyable/complex, like philosophy, literature, or art. Not math — it's more useless than the others at a point.

A Ph.D in Theoretical Mathematics, during the day. A Pizza delivery man at night.

I believe it has to do with a herd-mentality (and a bit of deep-rooted stupidity). Females growing up tend to be social nimrods, focusing more on interactions with their peers than anything. (Kind of makes sense - they're not interested in advancing scientific models, they want a man to hump them so they can take care of children as a stay-at-home-mother.) As long as they're accepted by their peers I've seen that they tend to move along this trend which usually results in an easy career path with high rewards (with regards to both interactions with other people and monetarily). However, socially-ostracised females tend to find interest in things like art/literature in a way to be social or excel without the need for other people. Let's be honest - most females suck major dick (figuratively and literally, some of the women in STEM have no fucking business being there...absolute pseudointellectuals who couldn't read a proper acedemic paper or do basic maths/physics/chemistry to save their pathetic lives) in any STEM-related field, most just don't have the drive/care/deep-seated inquiring nature one needs to succeed in most STEM fields. Then you have autistic weirdos who were either traumatised as children, goaded by their parents who work in STEM, have no talent in humanities, or just peculiar in the fact that they actually enjoy and respect science(s) as a whole (who obviously have something wrong with them - you just can't tell what it is yet) working in the field. It is quite the pathetic situation as a whole, but in all honesty I like it this way. Any change would probably result in a huge influx of stupidity in my field and I would prefer that to happen some time after I die, not while I'm in the position to have to deal with it.

Since OP is obvious b8, can someone explain what exactly is Theoretical mathematics? What kind of maths is theoretical and could a math scrub get good enough to dabble in it? pic contains some relations
