The idea behind common core is fine, its the execution thats the problem

You can do whatever you want to try to give kids multiple tools to learn math so that they can learn in whatever way is best for them, but if those tools are in the hands of terrible teachers who dont truly understand math, then they're just going to shit out those types of problems. What you get from this is instead of different ways for students to better understand math you get lots of extra things for students to have to try to learn, and a bunch of different exercises that just give students more stuff to deal with, and thus just confuses them more.

We need to better vet teachers if we want common core to actually be effective. Teachers need to understand why common core is there instead of just forcing themselves to throw shit in worksheets that they dont understand the underlying principles of.
