>went to Catholic school for pre-k through 5th grade
>loved it
>had lots of fun, learned to love other and be a good person

>go to atheistic 6th grade through high school
>everybody is an angsty fuck, people fight over stupid shit
>realize how God's light has been blocked from these schools and makes everyone angry

Sorry you're wrong, OP. Then again, Jehovah's Witness and other Protestant religions are false so I can see why your parents are nuts.

Why the fuck are amphetamines not given out like candy in college?

They make you want to study, and help you stay focused for hours. The only downside is you want to take it again so you can have the same laser focus for tomorrow lecture.

>thats idiotic, do you know that most people science 'worships' completly rescpected and were aware of the importance of philosophy and practiced it

Many of those people also practiced alchemy. They were a product of their era and could not have known better.

Philosophy is technically the basis of science in that science is natural philosophy, but it's the only branch that is capable of demonstrating the validity of it's claims. As a result those sincerely interested in truth stick to that branch and those interested instead in protecting a falsehood from being discredited seek out some other branch, typically solipsism or something similar.

As a result when someone begins to talk about philosophy instead of simply saying science, I know bullshit is on the way.

Dear /sci/,

I'm just finishing up my first semester as a freshman in college. I'm currently a biology major, but I'm thinking of changing to some sort engineering. (I'm basically doing basic coursework for transfer so it's not like I've taken any high level classes yet).

Anyway, I have no idea what I want to be. Is that normal? I mean I have a basic idea of what I want to do, I'd like to work in some sort of lab doing experiments. I'm really interested in microbiology, but I don't know how likely it would be to get a job doing something like that. I also really like math, and I'm heading in to Calculus 1 next semester, so I think an engineering major would get me a good job.

Anyway, does anyone else have any imput? I thought I would know what I wanted to by the time I got into college.
