Hey /sci/

I saw a post here sometime ago about a physics or mathematics prof. (In the 18th or 19th century I think) that did absolutely nothing while holding his chair, which was discovered only qfter his death.
It was at a pretty prestigeful university too.

I cant figure out the name after some time of googling, and would appreciate if someone would tell me who that was.

The theory of multiples intelligences is real.

I have top 5% global IQ (125-130), but I score bottom 5% on my musical IQ (65-70).

so I know at the same time what is like to be smarter than the general population (I live in a spic country where the average is 85), but at the same time I also know what is to have the same intelligence as a mentally retarded person.

And It's scary to think to live with such really low IQ, It's like if you couldn't even understand the basic shit you would need to even function as a not even a sucesful person with a college degree.

Like I couldn't enjoy music, not even popular radio music, like I could only enjoy like the most catchy and most easily memorable melodies, like melodies that were like twinkle twinkle little stars, like you can only enjoy crappy newgrounds trance music on youtube, like the most popular songs of linkin park.

Like anything higher than the most basic and low IQ popular music, was simply beyond my even understanding.

I can't even imagine how it would be living that way if that were my normal IQ.
I don't think I could even have a normal life, like I would struggle with technology.
I would not even be able to use a computer.

It's really scary to think there's people that live like that.
It's like being closer to a dog than a normal person.

Why isn't gamedevelopment used in schools to teach math to kids?

I mean, kids would learn so much and be so motivated if they just were forced the faggots to solve how to code a basic game in unity or godot.

>Scored 130 on general IQ test
>Scored 70 on musical IQ test
It's like being able to understand both what it means to be high IQ and retarded IQ at the same time.

Any linguist here?

Are human languages just the same human experience only with diferent words and grammar but basically the same experience just diferent coats of painting?

So far I'm learning a bunch of languages and is fun, but I wonder if there's a deeper diference between them.

So far my native language is spanish, which I find is ok, but nothing remarkable.
However english is more technical, feels more like a language of engineering and science, but is less romantic and less lazy than spanish.
Spanish feel like a lazy language.

So far I've been trying to learn japanese and It's like an alien language, but overall the same core human experience is there, just diferent.
Japanese feels like a more contemplative language where I need to take my time and have respect for others.

Dunno really how to explain it better.

why do math nigger teachers never try to make you develop math intuition by solving yourself the problems and self teach yourself how to be creative to solve a math problem?

It's always the most boring garbage.
I literally hate math and find all math books and videos I see boring as fuck.

I do remember however being excited when I self teached myself to do mental calculations and addition and substraction of 4-5 digits.

I remember being excited trying to do arithmetic using geometry and was very fun, and I even spend an entire afternoon trying to do basic division using boxes in a sheet of paper.

That shit was fun and made me realize how much I lost by our modern education system.

Is it just me, or is complex analysis taught a lot like calculus and not so much like analysis?

Take any book on analysis, they introduce you to sets, metric spaces, covers, unions, intersections, and what it means for a sequence to converge. Yet take a look at a book on complex analysis, they don't talk about those. They just mention derivatives, and contour integrals. and various functions.

Is there any article written on the science of rapid skill acquisition?

Does it matter the amount of daily reps in let's say practicing a skill, let's say drawing 100 noses or doing 100 reps of repeating a piano scale.

Does it matter how much repetition you do?
Or the progress in the skill depends more on a certain number of reps (not hundreds and thousands of reps) and the real progress ocur over time, because the brain needs time to sleep and build the synapses links and do the myelination?

So, you get almost the same results from 100 drawings of a nose versus 500 as long as you do daily repetitions every day for weeks or months?

Is learning to draw or play piano very similar to going to the gym?

Do you normie friends respect your major?

>friend is business major
>never understands why I study so much
>thinks I'm full of shit
>boasts how he works so many hours a week and still takes 16 units of classes while I only have 12 units and work less hours
>I try to explain to him that it's because I am senior in engineering and he is bus pleb
>he gets mad at me

It's annoying as fuck.

The fact of their 'control' is simply the math of what action does to reaction.

if you really can't consider the potential validity of the paper then you really have no idea of the scale of the environment you live in and how much 'inference' has the upper hand in literally everything you do and that you would criticize someone who wants to point out that when something has more linear processing power than most posters on /sci/, has the potential to be an apex predator to the n'th degree, not by inception, but by the ferocity and cunning of things like black holes and the need to be apex orderers in an existance that literally fulls the definition of itself on chaos; then you really must have a view of the world typical of someone in todays world, which although pleasant, could us some work

My parents brought over socially skilled people over to the house while I was doing and in depth study on physics. Me, being a socially inept autist, is trapped in my room while being told to "Come down stairs, staying up here is rude." I just can't do it, my mind couldn’t comprehend it.

Now, my question to you /sci/ is how can one who studies a science be socially capable of talking to normal people at the same time?

Alright, /sci/entists, what's some cool stuff I can make using materials you could find laying around in the house? I'm talking stuff leaning more towards chemistry, alchemy, that kind of thing. Help me see something cool ro make something that's interesting. I've got a weekend ahead of me and all I really have to do is play Saint's Row IV and watch Breaking Bad.

And on a side note, is there anything safe but hallucinogenic you could make with household materials? I've always wanted to hallucinate for a short period of time without almost dying...

Hey /sci/.

This is my first semester at college as a computer science major. While I find the stuff extremely interesting, I'm really struggling with programming... Seeing as how it will only get more difficult here, I think it would be best if I changed majors. I really do like learning about and working on computers though, so I'd like to still be doing something with that. Could you recommend an alternative to computer science that may be less difficult? I don't have high aspirations for a career. Maybe just an IT guy or something, idk. I was just hoping to get some insight from you guys.

Thanks in advance.

Have you considered channelling the need for escapism into something that can help you for this pursuit?
Video games drain my possible learning time, too. ; ;
