>I actually do not know anyone who solved it themselves and would be intrested in hearing an experience of someone like that.
I used to speedsolve a bit and have solved numerous Rubik's like puzzles with my own solutions, pic related.

I never solved the OG Rubik's cube on my own, but I now know how one would do so. I'd say the key insights that make an original solution possible have already been said in this post >>11660479
Thinking about pieces instead of stickers is non-negotiable, then experiment with commutators. Try and find commutators that do certain small tasks, like cycling three pieces, and then combo them together to make new ones.

Also, try ignoring some of the pieces and solving just the edges, or just the corners. Solving just edges is vastly simpler and will teach you the ropes and give the beginner intuition needed to progress further

I'm legit going to talk to my tutor and try and get myself on there talking about higher dimensional Rubik's cubes. My tutor's been on Sixty Symbols and Brady Haran comes to Uni of Nottingham quite frequently
Wish me luck boys

Every now and then I post this on /v/ and spend the life of the thread arguing both sides of the argument with literally anybody who tries to give a definite answer for either, it's good fun
