In pic related, a beam of white light is dispersed into its spectral components. I'm curious if this process could be reversed (at least approximately), i.e. can you combine rays of colored light to create "white" light using a prism?

I'm curious but I have no prism and I ought to be asleep.

Fellow /sci/entists, can you explain how the solar spectrum can be continuous
when the energy of photons is supposed to be quantified, ie. take only discrete values?

Can someone help me understand refraction?

i've looked at some explanations online and most of them talk about the light being continually absorbed and reemitted, which takes time, reducing the light's average speed. but don't atoms only absorb photons of certain energies and not others? surely this would mean that different materials would only refract certain frequencies of light - but this doesn't happen. why not?

Hello there....I know that I am retarded but I never learned how to complex numbers and I am afraid that I wont make Linear Algebra exam because of them.

I know how do I solve simple things as Sqrt of some negative number but I cant do more complicated things.

So if there is anyone who could help me with some of these problems....If you do just one with the steps I will derive the system
