If you dream of space exploration you're a traitor to the human race
>yearly NASA budget alone is around 40 billion USD
>globally more than 200 billion is wasted on space exploration every year
>that's less than what the west spends on aid to developing countries
>ensuring that no child starves to death would only cost 30 billion

Escapism is the most dangerous of all ideologies. The manchild dream of leaving our planet behind is what lets people rationalize destroying the Earth and ignoring the plight of the third world.
The super rich and their chosen followers escaping a ruined planet is starting to become a real danger. If we don't act now it might be too late. They're already lobbying for stealing more tax money the public desperately needs to fund their way out.
And no, they won't take you with them, /sci/.

/sci/, I absolutely want to learn about space. Where should I start? Cosmology? Astrology? Astrophysics?

Pretend we have a working tube like this in space, ignore the ends and having everything fling out the ends. We are using centripetal force to create an artificial gravity.

Okay cool, good so far. My friend brought up an interesting point, that being imagine if we were to fling up a substantial amount of water from one of the ponds into the air, it wouldn't come back down since there isn't a significant force of gravity, it may end up flying away from the surface, and eventually splashing on the opposite side or whatever.

What about on a more human level if i were to go swimming on one of these things and splash around water?
