/sci/ was very good back in the old days. But the mods banned all the good posters and eventually retards took over.
Dare speak out how the scientific method is incompatible with religion? You're banned.
Post pseudo-scientific shit (like flat Earth or creationist theories)? Your thread isn't even deleted.

Why can't mods change the rules so that at the very least some pseudo-science shitposting (such as flat Earth theories) wouldn't be allowed?
Look at other science forums on the Internet - they're thriving because they have stricter rules than /sci/. Religious shitposting and other pseudoscience isn't allowed over these forums, while stating how certain pseudo-sciences (including religion) are incompatible with science is perfectly valid. The result is serious discussion and no braindead morons and religionfags crusading their idiotic doctrines.

Odd. When I used to frequent /sci/ years ago level headedness was fairly common relative to other boards.

I guess that time hasn't been kind to /sci/. I blame the anons that shat on speculative discussion. They killed the post rate and with it the community.

Maybe you can have smart people doing "drone/wageslave" (read: the important) work that has been devalued by society. Perhaps if we valued these jobs more smarter people would show interest in doing them as well, and there are good chances that they will be done with better quality than they are now.

Josef, pat and CCM mostly ignored those two nutjobs, like the rest of /sci/, I can remember Josef posted for a while after they left when he moved to the US, then he just kind of fell off the grid, good riddance though.

I remember when pic related was /sci/.

But eventually /sci/ was overcome with freshmen STEM majors who only want a STEM degree as means of claiming they are smarter than everyone else. Such people take every chance they get to elevate themselves above others and on /sci/ that takes the form of hard science chauvinism. Hard science is great, but /sci/ can't maintain a decent post frequency when sticking to hard science. Eventually the number of more speculative threads diminished and with them went most of /sci/'s posters. The aforementioned undergrads eventually left as well because they have no real passion for science and stop valuing /sci/ as soon as their knowledge of their respective field exceeds what usually shows up in /sci/, but every year brings new undergrads. Now /sci/ is almost completely devoid of oldfags, the only people who actually care about the health of /sci/.

Ehh, /sci/ is just a waste of time anyways. If it's not a bunch of infantile highschoolers posting infantile cartoons, its a bunch of autist fucks that get mad if you even say anything remotely unscientific. If you're lucky there are a few /sci/ bros that actually have fun.
