Is it really fair to say that runs of a quantum physics experiment (say, electrons through a double-slit apparatus) are 'identically prepared'?
Isn't this using an extremely sloppy definition of identical? I mean there's really no way to ensure that such a huge macroscopic system is really in an identical state before each electron is shot through the apparatus.

What gives, physicists?

But seriously severe selection events cause rapid changes in short periods of time that can't occur via mere mutation.
