So you agree with me that "solving the equation to allow for it to happen is good enough" is not remotely true. Even in your comment ("AI and thrust vectoring combined for landing rockets from space." -- assuming you mean AI in the non-technical sense), those equations have been solved for roughly 100 years in a general sense; controls is a relatively new field but its fundamental equations of motion haven't changed very much. They may use a fancy controls algorithm with gain scheduling, bringing in other signals than position/velocity/acceleration, you may use different materials and components. But the fundamentals are still the same since at least the 1950's if not earlier.
