More of an anthropology question I suppose, but when do you think humans our more human like ancestors began separating itself from the animal kingdom?
Do you think there have been early sentient hominids that knew they were animals or do you think as soon as they could understand what animals were they believed that capability made them special from other animals they saw?

It's much too hard imagining these grasps just by text description, even if I have a pencil to try it out.
