Forgive my ignorance but what’s stopping people from attempting if not actually building their own quantum computers at home? Aside from lack of physics and computing knowledge.

I assume there are many, albeit not a significant percentage of the population, capable of doing so.

While I may not truly understand the subject matter my assertion is: If Steve jobs and Bill Gates both helped kickstart the computer revolution and built computers, each tackling certain issues, in a garage surely some other person with dedication can help further improve the field
