Fastest growing disciplines are biomedical, environmental, civil, and computer science/software engineering (if you count it an engineering field)

In terms of salary + job growth rate, petroleum engineering, biomedical engineering, and computer science/software engineering are probably doing the best

I'm not totally sure why everyone majoring in physics despises engineers so much, but I believe it is mainly due to the fact that engineers get paid alot more for learning generally the same things

The main reason why is, honestly, jealousy. When people see other people who are more sucessful than them based on their own choices, they naturally want that, too, but since they know they can't have it, they try to insult them to make themselves think they really don't want it, but in reality, they do want it (it being money and success)
