Thy 'conscious' needn't be overthought; for where emergence takes place, consciousness sets foot.

Thou hast no right speaking with Orbulon. Thy new IQ average would lower, however, thy average intelligence shall increase.

http://waitbutwhy.com/2015/01/artificial-intelligence-revolution-1.html

It's a long read, but still worth reading.

Most of the scientific community pretty much agree that ASI will happen, and some of the brightest minds out there are worried we're headed toward that goal too recklessly (read the essay for details). Still, whether good or bad, everyone pretty much agrees it will be revolutionary beyond anything we've seen before.

And expected to happen within our generation, 30 years at the earliest... That's a lot to swallow. How does /sci/ think of this?

And well, 2nd, it's hard to really imagine that a world where a machine is exponentially more intelligent than the human collective could be the solution to all our problems. Like, is intelligence really all it takes?

I mean, Einstein was born a genius, but he had tonlearn first, no?

A super intelligent machine can't know all the answers if it hasn't discovered them yet, even with "infinite intelligence."

So, what do you guys think a post ASI world would look like? Would we hit a technilogical peak and plateau? Or will we advance astronomically? I don't think our current society is ready for that, and its insane to think that leap so massive into immortality, nanotech, and interstellar space travel could happen so shortly after ASI, and within our generation even.

Assuming we don't all die ofc...
