The Simpsons also has no actual science but I used to like it too.

Sci-fi is just imaginative and different, it doesn't deal with things from the day to day life and generally deals with things people have a fascination with (life on other planets).

I love me some Star Trek (TOS, DS9 and TNG) but, while it basis everything in science it just goes so far with it that it becomes absurd or in some instances wrong (they have a retarded understanding of evolution or just deliberately fuck it up to screw around with ideas).

The thing about sci-fi is it can't be actual science to explore the grand ideas. Star Trek wouldn't work if you didn't accept ridiculous stuff like Warp, Universal Translators, all aliens being more or less humanoid. Dr. Who couldn't work without accepting life on other planets and time travel. Then, it already has this fanciful world, and wants to do something big each episode but is already built on flawed/unsupported science, so it just takes it further and further each episode.

It's science FICTION, not science.
