Not trolling, but why are so many science minded people quick to believe aliens exist?

Every time I talk about this with someone they say something like "the probability is there". But you can easily say the same thing about something like God and I'm pretty sure that is what Intelligent Design people do.

I mean, it's nice to believe or hope for these things, but are aliens (as in, intelligent life in another galaxy) anymore scientifically valid than other leaps of faith simply because of "probability"?
