A name gets decommissioned if the Family has not lived up to its motto or has been defunct for N-many cycles. A name is still just a way others can reference you though so I'm unsure of what or why... does Gary never want to have a 'different' Family?

I am a hive family of vessels, so technically my family has always existed and always will. What occupies the host vessels is as irrelevant to us as what Operating System you install on your hardware.
