Well, I personally think the self-perpetuating feedback loop of methane clathrates rising to the surface (most recent article http://www.nzherald.co.nz/world/news/article.cfm?c_id=2&objectid=10773020 ), combined with exponential increases in atmospheric methane concentration in the last 100 years, is probably the most pressing threat to not only civilisation but humanity.
The last time the methane rose was during the Permian-Triassic extinction 205 million years ago.
This, combined with ocean acidification, spells ecological collapse and loss of carrying capacity. We have a lot of things to worry about.
