The sequence of partial sums
S1, S2, S3, ...
with
S1 = 1
S2 = 1+2
S3 = 1+2+3
S4 = 1+2+3+4
and so on, DOES NOT converge to -1/12 with respect to the standard metric d(x,y):=|x-y| on the reals.

In that sense, it doesn't.
