Ok terrible choice of wording. I should've just said what I said after that sentence. Every gov't is guilty of "social engineering", as much as phrasing of this term bothers me it describes exactly what is going on.So it now works with the government stooges and the media doing some neuro-linguistic programming on the masses to make'em think they need them. This does create a certain selection pressure that wouldn't be there if the regime didn't meddle in our progress. So one could say "unnatural" - artificial would be a better way to describe it.
