For s=2, how can the function be convergent when you are adding numbers that are always above zero, infinite times? You are taking a number that is greater than zero, and multiplying it by infinity.

Why are math people so bad at explaining things. Divergent means that it doesn't have a numerical value right? I just read that 1 + 1/2 + 1/3 ... etc is divergent, but since each number is getting smaller as you go wouldn't that make it convergent instead? I don't get this crap.

And why is all the reciprocals of the squares equal to pi square over 6? Does that mean that all the squares equal 6 over pi squared? What ??? It shouldn't be this hard to explain something so simple so why can't idiots explain it right ffs.

Why are we taught this branch of mathematics at university?

Somebody explain the mental gymnastics behind this absolute mess.

Somehow mathematicians came to the conclusion that for s = -1, the result of this equation is -1/12.

How does that make any sense, for s = -1, the equation would read:

1/1 + 2/1 + 3/1 + 4/1 ... = -1/12

That doesn't make sense it should be positive infinity as the answer not -1/12.

Where did they get -1/12 from? Did they try to find an equivalent equation to this one I'm posting? If they found an equivalent equation then how can it truly be equivalent if it says infinity = -1/12? Are they sure it's really equivalent and not just wrong?

Redpill me on this mess, there is a one million dollar prize for anybody who can either confirm or deny when the equation equals 0. There are already guesses but they want absolute proof, they probably want another equivalent equation that shows exactly when the equation is equal to 0.
