I don't see how .9999... = 1. At best it's very, very close but they're not equal. People say that because 1/3 = 0.3333... that 3/3 = .9999... = 1, but 0.333... is just an approximate representation of 1/3. 1/3 can't be represented exactly with a decimal, numbers don't work that way.
