Okay /b/ need help with Science.

If the average speed of a spaceship os 32 000 km/h, how long would it take to travel the 80 million kilometres from Earth to Mars? (Give your answer in days)

you ever notice how there are some phenomena that are such that upon analyzing them they lose their distinctive quality?

for example...music. Listen to good music, and you have some feels. But then if you take it apart and analyze all the notes being played one by one the feels disappear. But put it together and something greater emerges. Same with art. Look at a nice painting and it kind of 'strikes' you with its beauty, but upon analyzing its chemical composition the beauty quickly fades away.

what do you make of such phenomena like these? what is this elusive feeling of wonder that we get sometimes which disappears upon analysis? Is this the divine? Is this what makes us 'human'? Is it beyond the realm of science? what is it?

Ask someone who is going to be a scientist in a month anything.

I'm graduating Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Political Science this December.

Hey
So I did a college course which has given me A level equivalents in biology and physics

originally I wanted to do nuclear engineering but it requires A lvl maths and i've run out of time to study for it within the time frame I have

So im going to search for this anyway but I see some good info on here

What course at university can I get into with A levels in biology and physics

or just pushing it off a year to learn the maths, since that would be enough time

Hello /sci/

I am a grade 9 with 1 spring break week to create a science fair project. Could you suggest good, award-winning, projects that I could do? I am a hard worker, and just found out I had to do it. If possible, include a step-by-step.
Thanks!

hi /sci/. So for one of my classes I wrote this research paper and I thought it was a pretty decent paper. It was the second one for the course and the first one I got a B on. I thought this one was better so I'm expected a high B or A on it.

but we had to do anonymous peer reviews on this one. and the guy who reviewed mine was a HUGE ASSHOLE who wrote all this nonsense saying my paper was terrible, completely misunderstanding my arguments and then writing that they were bad arguments, and saying things I wrote in the paper that were perfectly clear were "confusing" and unfairly criticizing my style of writing.

what the fuck. You should have seen the paper I had to peer-review. The guy I reviewed left out words like 'a' and 'the' constantly, didn't know how to properly quote things, and it felt like half the essay was just quotes of material with little of his own writing. Not to mention he basically went against his thesis multiple times. Yet I still found nice things to say about it and wrote up a review that acknowledged these flaws and stressed the important ones but still pointed out the strengths of the paper, even if they were tough to find.

what do /sci/? If I fail this paper cause of some giant asshole i'm gonna be fucking pissed.

/sci/ I'm a physics major that's rather bad at physics. I want to get better at the basics and go back over the first year intro stuff. I'm planning on going through the Walter Lewin MIT lectures and maybe more....but my question is this.

do you guys know of any books with lots of solved problems that I could use to practice? My intro physics course books have no answers in them so I won't know if I did the problem right or not.

what are some books on intro physics with lots of solved problems? (this is, calculus-based undergrad first year physics)

Don't you people ever get tired of science? I see threads on this board and everyone's talking about science, science, science. I don't know even one tenth of the science you guys know. Or maybe you're just pretending to know all this science to look smart. I don't know. What's so great about science, anyway? It's just a way to catalogue knowledge and develop ways to test hypothesis.

Have you ever stopped and admired the sheer power of science and humans?

hundreds of years ago, when the first civilizations were forming, and the babylonians were meticulously noting the positions of stars, planets and the moon without any giants to stand on, a question like "Why and how does this happen?" Would have seemed absolutely insane, even impossible, to answer. But yet here we are. We've advanced so far with this mixture of the empirical method and abstract thought. It's also a reminder of how far we can still progress. Questions as seemingly impossible as the Babylonians were faced with are indeed possible.
