These studies that show that hundreds of thousand people die from "medical errors" are retarded because they simply look at the number of patients that died of "adverse event" or "preventable adverse event".
"Preventable adverse event" is a fucking retarded concept and is not a synonym of "malpractice".
Lets say someone comes in with a heart attack, but I work at a small hospital that does not offer percutaneous coronary intervention. This guy had his heart attack since 1 hour ago and sending him to a hospital with a coronary care unit will take a couple hours.
The medically correct decision is to start thrombolytic therapy. Oh but he suffered a stroke as a side effect and now died because of the stroke (he would've died if we didn't treat him with thrombolytics anyways).
This is classified as a """Preventable adverse event""" since technically it could've been prevented if our small hospital had a coronary care unit (which might be unrealistic). The patient might've died during PCI anyways.
So yeah, fuck off with your bullshit statistic of "Doctors are killing hundreds of thousands each year".
