So I had this thought on the logical fallacy of the family guy "multiverse episode". The episode represents pretty much how normal people understand the concept of a multiverse. And it is quite the misunderstanding.
An infinite amount of possibilities does not imply that EVERYTHING is in existance in a multiverse. This is a fallcy derived from a lack of understanding for infinity in a mathematical sense.
Let me put it this way: All of the possible outcomes of the universe can be mapped to, let's say, the numbers in the interval [0;1], defined in R. There uncountably infinite elements in this interval as there are possible outcomes of the universe (let's just assume the lather holds, doesn't matter, there can only be "less" and I could cope that by making the interval smaller). Now, the point is, that there are events that are thoroughly impossible, and therefore I can map them to R\ x€]0;1[, meaning, I can imagine them, but that doesn't necessarily mean they could by any means become true.
tl;dr An infinite amount of possibilities does not imply that there is a derivative of our universe that is painted by disney.

My friend who's 6'5 225 lbs thinks he can beat a chimpanzee that is 4 feet tall and weighing 130 lbs. I think it's impossible, what is /sci/'s take on this.

>How would you know it's not just them?
Wouldn't be nearly enough mass to account for the speeds at which stars towards the edge of the galaxy orbit the center (which, I believe, is why dark matter was introduced as a concept). I remember for a while they thought it might be just a shit ton of neutrinos, but I believe that's been proven wrong. I think you're just having a hard time conceiving the amount of mass you would need (I know I have trouble with scale issues sometimes; I think we all do).

I'm no physicist, but I think the above is accurate.

That's some pretty good motivation. Not OP, but perhaps I should try being fueled by spite instead of simply an intrinsic desire to do well

Help?

For the transformation T: R^2 to R^2 such that T([2 3 ]) = [0 0] and T([-1 1]) = [2 3]

determine a basis for R^2 with respect to which the matrix of T has only one non zero entry

/sci/, it pains me to admit this but as a scientist I cannot turn a blind eye to the truth.

Aether has won.

It's not because /sci/ is so ridiculously easy to troll. It's not because a generalizing idiot can easily bring detailists to rage and tears as he so often does. It's simply because he has become /sci/'s own version of what /sci/ hates the most.

This is 4chan. A trolls trolling trolls trolling trolls all while swimming in a sea of trolls. Yet, whenever someone comes along to troll /sci/ with religion, anti-scientificism and creationism, unless it's a hit-and-run troll, you all race each other to see who can blame aether first. Aether has become to you what demons, goblins and kappas are to other cultures: a universal scapegoat on whom you can blame everything which you're powerless to avoid. Long after aether has gone from this board (maybe he has already), you'll still be blaming the trolls of other idiots on him. He has made a superstitious idiot out of every one of you. You have become what you hate the most.

Aether, if you're still out there and reading this: great fucking job. It took time and dedication, but you've managed to pull the biggest troll in the most-trolled 4chan board after /b/. Just wait and watch: someone might even blame this very post on you as well.

Dude, what?
My school has a 4.0 scale and the B- is the exact same as OP's (2.67). We just don't have an A+ so you can never get above 4.0.
