Just learn the CS stuff on your own. All CS professors do is just skim textbooks, there's no need to pay them money for the privileged of hearing them read it.

>Everywhere makes it seem like a decent major

Only because they only look at muh jerbs and think you need a degree in da computa to work with da computa.

>I'm in senior year of highschool right now and am interested in computer science

What are you waiting for? Learn CS right now while you have a ton of free time. You'll end up knowing more than most cs grad when you graduate high school.

>So is going into computer science a good idea

No, it's like majoring in car driving. Good skill to have but you don't need 4 slow paced years paying 20K a year in university to learn it.

>or should I look into another major that interest me

Yes. Employers only want a (stem) degree and to see that you can program with a portfolio.

>CS brianlets still don't understand the hate
CS is good knowledge to have like learning a foreign language. It's just stupid to go to university to get that knowledge when it's faster and better to just learn it on your own. Not to mention that most universities (especially all american ones) have terrible CS programs.

>inB4 hurr durr i know a "self taught" guy that can barely fizzbuzz in java
And weeaboos say they know Japanese because they know what baka means. Doesn't prove it's impossible to learn Japanese without majoring in it. You have to put in the time to learn the [math]voluminous[/math] material but none of it is particularly [math]dense[/math] so it's easy.

>inB4 but muh jerbs
You can get translator jobs by proving you can speak a language and you can get software eng jobs by proving you know your shit. Make a github and code up your own compiler, micro OS, stock trader, etc and you won't have any problems getting job offers.

>inB4 but i find proof by induction hard so nobody can learn it without taking a year of discrete maths and they will still kinda suck at it afterwards like all muh classmates. You're all memeing/russian trolling/fake newing if you say absurd lies that it's easy!!!!11 you be all jelly of muh 100k starting!!!

No, cs degrees are slow as fuck and geared for brainlets. Just study out of textbooks

>But is the only good thing cs can offer me is how to program
No course or training program can teach you how to program. All they can do is introduce you to the basics. It's up to you to go out and improve your skills by working on stuff and learning from it and exploring better ways of doing it.
>or does it really have other things that I canĀ“t easily learn in other places
It doesn't. You can learn everything in a cs major on your own in a quarter of the time it take to get a degree.

Duh. You're not saying anything not obvious.

Physics majors don't take programming. To program they have to learn. That PhD clearly just looked up a list of instructions and put no more time into it. It doesn't mean that PhDs are incapable of learning CS or find it hard; they just never put the time in it.

CS is a waste of tuition money. Study it on your own and avoid being slowed down by brainlet CS majors.
