So much homework...
I mean I post HW occasionally but this is a lot.

Theoretical neuroscience/computer engineering thread.
My suggestion is that since Myelin sheaths are actively used to speed up the electrical current's travel speed, could we apply this to computers? Like putting some sort of fatty substance on the wires to speed it up?

A mixture of CaCO3 and CaO weighing 0.676 g was heated to produce gaseous CO2. After heating, the remaining solid weighed 0.432 g. Assuming all the CaCO3 broke down to CaO and CO2, calculate the mass percent of CaCO3 in the original mixture.
Why is the answer not 57 or 36?

Hey /sci/, I'm a freshman at my university and I've been told by everybody not to take BSC (biological sciences) until my 2nd year, but it's a prereq for a class that's a prereq for declaring my desired major, so I want to take it this spring, can you guys suggest any tips that I can do now to get a jump start on this so it won't be as hard when I get to it later?

tl;dr, how2bioscience

I'm currently a junior going on senior in Highschool. I'm extremely interested in sciences, especially Physics, problem is this when I told my parents I'm considering going to college to major in physics, they blew a shit-fit (major conservatives) My Stepdad ranted about how their are no jobs for scientists especially ones with Physics degrees, And any teacher telling you different is lying to you. How should I win this argument? Isn't the science field one of the booming job markets?

>> Oh and he recommended I major in Mechanical Engineering. -.-"

Whats the best way to self teach myself the math used in advance physics problems? I'm a high school student, and I excel at the theory's and experiments that require thought, but currently my math is only average. Any recommendations on books or practices to improve myself?
