How do you study an Electrical Engineering textbook with the same gusto and relish that you get from arguing with strangers?

I agree. It depends on the person. Growing up, as a Black person, I was passionate with computer science since the age of 13 and looked up to people like Donald Knuth or Edsger Djisktra. The fact that they weren't Black didn't make me any less passionate, though I will admit that I low-key was pissed that there weren't many Blacks in STEM in general, and I felt like I had something to prove by trying to be as good as I can in that field. This sentiment was even stronger when I started to browse imageboards, to then be bombarded with posts about my people being inherently inferior intellectually because of IQ. Then when I went to Uni I couldn't fucking support to see a White or an Asian man do better than me, because in my subconscious it was a confirmation of all those infographics from /pol/ that my people were inferior to those people, and that I too, was inferior, at least intellectually.

This mentality I used to have is long gone and now I'm just a slacker without much confidence who browse imageboards all day. And I should honestly stop, so have a nice day.

>The absolute base objective of CS is to solve problems using applied mathematics through algorithm design.
In practice, data structures and algorithms are the easy part because the most useful data structures and algorithms have already been thoroughly researched and are almost always available as primitives. The hard part is making dependencies in the code reflect dependencies in the problem at scale. This is only possible through a deep familiarity of the problem and available tools. It is impossible to gain this familiarity without practice. If you want to do theoretical research, you may not need to be an expert programmer, but don't think that studying algorithm and data structures will automatically make you a good programmer.\

>They don't really look that different, do they?
Those languages were all extremely similar. Do you understand the following?
https://rosettacode.org/wiki/Sorting_algorithms/Bubble_sort#360_Assembly
https://rosettacode.org/wiki/Sorting_algorithms/Bubble_sort#Factor
https://rosettacode.org/wiki/Sorting_algorithms/Bubble_sort#Haskell
https://rosettacode.org/wiki/Sorting_algorithms/Bubble_sort#Qi
How long would it take you to understand all of these? How long would it take you to implement bubble sort in one of these languages?

At least you know calculus, but you will need to "learn to code".

I need your help /sci/ I understand math and know how to work with it, but there is a problem. What kind of mental workout do you do to be able to solve mathematical problems in your head without any problems.
