Does anyone what are the best introductory books on lie algebras and representation theory? I've searched through amazon and I don't know which ones to buy.

Yo /sci/entists what kind of career options are available for a pure math major? How many math majors who aren't professors are on this board? I'm still a sophomore so it might not be to late to change my course of study.

Yeah, well, that would seem to make sense but...PROVE IT!

I really don't know any better so I'm just curious. Spin/anti-spin pairs are produced only in pairs such that if you know one you, by default, know the other? Can't you produce particles such that their angular momentum is uncertain and thus neither spin nor anti-spin?

Yeah, I actually feel like I learned more math then I would of ever reading quantum mechanics.

There are only a very few amount of super geniuses like Von Neumann, but they all relied on work done by normal scientists/mathematicians/etc.

So as long as you do your best in the field you love, then know that it can and will help future studies done by you or anybody else.

Pure math is just physics without any connection to the real world.

Pure math is completely just the product of the human mind. The human mind is a product of neural circuits, which can be studied with biology. Biology is just applied chemistry, and chemistry is applied physics. So in the end, pure math is just applied physics.

Is this statement true or false?

For all mathematical equations, involving any type of numbers. There is a picture behind each one.

so magnets have a positive and negative charge and they are attracted to each other, but how do they actually move towards one another?

I mean how does a positive charge attract a negative charge and how does the negative charge know the positive charge is there? why do noncharged things not feel any pull from these objects?
