Oops. Wrong picture, that was for the second part of my reply. This is the one showing the current map in comparison to the MWP.

Now, for global temperatures, you don't have as wild swings as in that single ice core. On a global level, things are changing much faster and into territories we haven't had since the dawn of man. Saying that this is the same as the Roman Warm Period or the Medieval Warm Period is just retarded.
