>why has a virus turned into a political issue?
They attempted to moralize Covid in the same way they moralized AIDS, despite the fact that AIDS is hard to get and hard to spread and mostly affects gays, while covid is airborne pneumonia that kills prime magatard demographics.
Trumptards thought that the Wu Flu was going to destroy China warlords era style, but after it jumped the border and started killing Americans unmasse, they needed to find some way to pin the blame on anyone else, rather than Trump's awful management.
So now you get people saying that the virus isn't real, the deaths aren't happening, the people that died did something to deserve it, etc.

The American right tried to moralize covid-19 in the same way that they moralized AIDS. Covid started in China and was evidence of their moral and genetic inferiority. The big problem with this is that while AIDS is extremely hard to get, extremely hard to spread, and only effects a small subset of a small subset of the population, covid is airborne pneumonia that preferentially kills people over the age of 50 i.e. prime magatard demographics.
