Recently I've wondered why in education teachers don't just give their students the answers, allow me to explain:

In my English class tomorrow we are expected to work on a past exam paper to prepare us for the upcoming exam. When we enter the room we will be asked to sit down and do the work to the best of our ability. Now, what I am confused about is why she doesn't just give us the answers and the correct method to use in the real exam. It's not that I'm too unintelligent to complete it, it's just confusing me. Surely, it would be more productive and we would learn more much faster, if she just said, "Here's how you do it."

What is the purpose of teaching in this way? Is it just hard labour? I don't get it. Any teachers here, if you could, tell me why.
