If you’re trying to explain what happened in the past by simply assuming that the laws that govern reality were the same back then as they are now, you’re full of shit.

For example, there is a “gravitational constant”, where is your proof this value has always been the same?

Some properties of matter behave with an inverse squared relationship, proof that this was always the case? Proof that light has always had the same maximum speed that is has now? Proof that the force that holds nuclei together was always the same strength that it is now?

Because humans have only been around and observing nature for what is claimed to be such a short period of time on a cosmic scale, anyone claiming to know that these “constants” never change and that we can assume they were the same back then as they are now in order to reconstruct the past is full of complete donkey shit.

It’s similar to a creature that only ever existed for 10 minutes one afternoon, this creature’s observations and theories about water would be 100% off if they never saw how water changes as temperature changes. Likewise, there could be some “universe temperature” or property we’ve never considered that changes the “fundamental constants” of the universe in the same way temperature changes water’s behavior.
