Is there any proof that our consciousness is not annihilated when we go to sleep, and then reborn anew when we wake?

I was thinking about this when reading about teleportation, and how essentially it functions (or will function in the future if it's ever a thing) as a suicide and cloning device which permanently kills you and then recreates a clone with your memories intact somewhere else. Could sleeping operate under similar principles, just without the physical annihilation?
