Who gives a shit what you believe?

Kurzweil is right on when it comes to near term computational predictions and in some other areas, but that is not what brings about the singularity.

The singularty according to Kurzweil comes about because of the advent of AI. Nobody on this earth, no matter who they are, can predict when or if we will figure out how to make AI because we don't yet know how to do it.

We know how to make processors and computation better... getting there is just a matter of developing new tools and watching the economies of scale kick in over and over again. This is predictable.

On the other hand, you cannot predict when something will occur if you don't yet know how to do it...such is the case for AI.

You now know why the "singularity" is bullshit.

I will say, however, that our technological progress is, indeed, progressing at an alarming rate and the future is going to be very exciting. But you just can't predict when discoveries will occur.
