Ladies and gentlemen, I don't know if this has been presented before, and frankly, I don't give a fuck.
My "Fishbowl" Theory states that we are just as goldfish in a bowl are, living our lives completely unaware that there is something bigger, older, and infinitely more complex than us living outside us, with our universe itself being the bowl. This can be applied infinitely, with those sentient being themselves being observed. A popular example of this being applied is in the film "Horton Hears a Who".
