>Intellectuals are idiots. Ey, dese educated morons be sayin' lots a' stupid shit I tells ya! Listen to your fuckin' granny for investment advice for once, eh, bada bing! I ain't trust no PhDs and dose math PhD nerds ain't good at tradin' no stocks! I'm Fat Tony, the humble Mediterranean purveyor of common sense. By the way, I'm not an Arab shitskin nigger. I'm a Lebanese Phonecian. We're genetically superior to those subhuman Muslims! Praise Lebanese Jesus, amen.

But then:

>IQ is not a good "measure" because it does not fulfill the criteria for "measure" in an obscure branch of PhD level mathematics called measure theoretic probability theory. I am assuming that you implicitly understand this graduate level mathematics with no elaboration, or you are an idiot. I am very smart, because I was in academia, and have a PhD in finance and mathematics. IQ is also racist, because racists use it as an argument for their racism, and racism is bad. As you know, I am a devout anti-racist.

How can someone so utterly contradict themselves constantly?

This guy made "fuck you money" by going into options trading and hedge funds with a similar logic to OP. He didn't enjoy it, didn't get how you could possible enjoy it, but believed in freedom and self-respect, which require having enough money to make one independent.

The only question is: is this way on making money truly unlimited? Cause I'm not sure you can really make hundreds of millions this way.

What order should I read Taleb in? And do I have to read the whole "incerto" series or can I just pick up one or two and get the point. I am mainly interested in the statistics/risk/economics portions of his work.

I read fooled by randomness around when it came out, but I forgot the details. I remember the gist, however.

Is there any way a noob, who hasn't even taken a course in Measure Theory, can learn basic stochastic calculus?

I want to do a little project about it.

Is "machine learning" a real field or just computer science people discovering applied mathematics? I studied some basics, and most of it boiled down to statistics, algorithms, some basic numerical methods, optimization, and a few little cool things people discovered 60+ years ago. A guy at my university publishes stuff that boils down to combining artificial neural networks (70+ years old) and wavelet transforms (30+ years old). Can anyone tell me what is the fuss about?

Were you even watching his video?
Not once did he say that there should be certain things taught in school rather that there should be a priority of things. He's advocating kids should be able to choose the subjects they take (Basically everything in his world is an elective).

So Tom, riddle me this; If kids could choose what they wanted to do would they choose 7 years of financial management?

Just admit it, he's bitching. He comes from the UK and he got to choose 67% of his GCSEs 100% of his A-levels and again 100% of his degree which he basically got all for free.

"My childhood was wasted!"

Really? Fucking really?

The amount that mankind knew back then was limited to a flat earth, basic agriculture and metallurgy. Believe it or not being able to afford the best education money had to buy and even being a trained professional made you smarter than virtually everyone.

Are you actually so moronic to argue that people who live in Chelsea sitting on millions are some how only -just- as likely to get a good job as a poor kid from some shitty benefit infested family in Croydon?

>Are you this fucking stupid that you believe that education makes any difference in a person's intelligence?
You're a moron.
Define Intelligence: The ability to acquire and apply knowledge and skills.
Define Education: Education is the process of facilitating learning.
Define Learning: the acquisition of knowledge or skills through study, experience, or being taught.

You are an actual argument for euthanasia.
