The indisputable scientific fact; based on rigorous theorizing and repeatable observation; that no matter how much scientific knowledge you accumulate, it is going to be of no use to anyone nor get you anywhere in life.

Throughout highschool and college, I had no idea how (and still don't know how) to tie a bow behind my back, so my lab aprons would never be very secure.
Once I tied it in a knot, and the teacher had to untie it for me, it was really embarrassing.
