I consider the Ariane 5 to be the Shuttle stack designed correctly. Hopefully, will launch the James Webb space telescope in a few years. Sad that it was never used for its designed purpose, a European manned space program.

A manned Soyuz is on the way to the ISS, and an Ariane 5 is now carrying two satellites into GEO.

In two days, there will be a Proton, a Soyuz, and a Japanese H-IIA launch.

And then Saturday will be the first launch of Dragon to the ISS, the first commercial space delivery.

Aren't you glad to be alive during the modern space age?

We needed a good month, after the triple failure last month. (Fingers still crossed for Briz-M's five burns in nine hours. And also for a good Soyuz launch on Saturday.)

[ERROR]

Meanwhile, panels have determined the causes of failure of the two Russian launch failures last week. The Proton's Briz upper stage failed to insert the satellite into the right orbit due to a software glitch, which didn't allow enough time for the gyros to reposition the platform between each of the five orbit-raising burns. The Soyuz upper stage was found to have faulty gas generator which couldn't pressurize the fuel tanks properly. Both launchers (the two most used launchers in current use) have now been cleared for flight.

And let us not forget that the most used orbital launchers in the world all originated from Soviet Russia:

Soyuz, 840 launches
Kosmos, 440 launches
Proton, 335 launches

America is small-time by comparison
