I'm doing half angle formulas. A sample question is:

So I need the cosine to plug into the sine half angle formula, but when I calculate the cosine, I get a square rooted fraction and can't calculate the formula.

Ok /sci I have a weird question about Chemistry. I am a second year student from a technical University and what bothers me is to deduce reactions every single time from NOWHERE. Basically after few tips you just have to memorize reactions. Apparently o-chem is better about this.

How does one simply know what the products will be from given substances? It drives me crazy because they don't always make sense, have long steps and there are endless reactions out there. I mean, how the fuck do you know that reaction will occur. HOW can you be so certain..
