no no no op that's not how you do it. You have to start with a eugenics thread and let them come to this argument on their own. If you just come out with it no one will bite

I'm doing Pharmaceutical chemistry/biology degree. I'm going into final year. I doubt they'll pay for you to do a degree.. especially if there is somebody with a masters that could be going for the same job you applied for.. I wouldn't have the balls to ask though.

I've stayed up all night doing awesome demonstration after mind blowing differential equation models, and yet I'm stuck at something that seems incredibly simple.

I'm basically defining the exponential function e^x and all of its properties parting ONLY from the fact it solves the differential equation y = y' with the initial condition y(0) = 1.

Suppose E(x) solves this. I've already proved all of its derivatives exist and are equal to E(x). I proved E(x) > 0 for all x > 0. I've proved E(x) it grows as x grows and that it does so at a positive rate (i.e. its derivative is positive and so is its second derivative for all x). But I cannot for the life of me prove E(a + x) = E(a)E(x), which is the next step I need to solve. Halp.
