http://www.nytimes.com/2013/03/13/business/global/japan-says-it-is-first-to-tap-methane-hydrate-deposit.html

>Technology has put the total amount of methane hydrate in the waters surrounding Japan at more than 7 trillion cubic meters, or what researchers have long said is closer to 100 years’ worth of Japan’s natural gas needs.

So is japan going to be to the next energy supplier or are they going to fuck us over with by accidentally releasing a shitload of methane in the atmosphere?

can someone name some black-colored liquids that are relatively safe for home use and that don't stick to glass? like if you filled a glass with it, then poored it out, none of it would stay in the glass.

i wanna build a window where i can fill it with fluid to block out the sunlight, then to let the light in it drains away

So guys, are there any type of chemical batteries where the electrodes don't magically go from one end to the other? i.e. aren't consumed

What makes an ivy league college better than the others? Do they actually give you a better education or is it just ad verecundiam? Can I get the same level of education in, let us say, the internet?

Assuming we look at the death penalty as a preventive measure against future crimes: As an alternative, what about sterilization?

I think not only would this discourage people from committing certain crimes as the death penalty does, but would also start an evolutionary selective pressure that would act on future generations.

Why is physics so overrated although it is practically useless as it's a science focused on understanding? while biology, chemistry and engineering, which are the sciences that might one day make you immortal are not considered a "real" science and they're being underrated by many.

Someday, I'm going to be a teacher. But not just a teacher of a concrete subject, I'm going to teach whatever I believe kids should know about: metric system, how to write a resume that doesn't suck, the importance of being smart, why they should be more applied at math and sciences and most importantly how to think for themselves, and many other topics. Not to make them atheist, but to make them better (and more smarter) beings.

I believe this kind of classes should be given in all elementary and high schools at least once a week.
