Not the guy you're talking to, but... not sure if trolling. The gentleman you're talking to is obviously discussing "science" as a tangible reality; i.e. its actual implementation, by people, in the real word. You seem to be discussing it as an abstract theory.

I wouldn't say that the scientific method, as an abstract theory, is safe either (observation issues, etc) but it's pretty hard to contend that Science can ever be implemented perfectly in the real world, given that imperfect beings such as Man are the ones doing it.

As an atheist, is it ever OK to be a dick like Richard Dawkins? My friend says that sometimes it is necessary in an argument, when your opponent leaves you no option. Where I think that if the argument reaches that point then it's essentially a deadlock and the argument is useless. Also I feel that by being hateful and condescending the atheist in question is no better than the creationist they are arguing with.

Thoughts?

Assuming aliens are real and they make contact with us, would you do anything differently?

They don't do anything special, they just say "hey we're real and like 200x smarter and more advanced than you, cya later we live in the center of the sun, so when you want to visit just come on by"

Would you even give a shit? Would you change your major, career, interests? Nope.
Why are UFO geeks so useless?

Hey, I almost got a BS in psychology but due to all the courses being super hard I was unable to graduate with a certificate. Anyways ask away anything in any field and I'll try to explain it.
