not to say that if govs have public support they shouldn't fund research but just to say that if corruption is to be destroyed forever we need like science on a blockchain or something. trustless systems because the endemic problem of just relying on centrality is that its one access point and overtime it'll 100% certainly be corrupted if it stays that way. I don't even know how we would implement decentralized science but it would involve having repeatable experiments be done by lots of different people to get a concensus and a reward and not allowing a review board to intervene because said board could be corrupt bc of politicians. There are ways to do this like some blockchains reward you for endorsements from its users so imagine every scientist with a passing score on some pure skill test is a user and if they endorse your work after proving that they repeated your experiment and didn't just say oh I like this guy and pass something off then both the scientists get a reward like a bitcoin for doing their jobs.
