you get a kit that consists of a block of wood, axles, and wheels. you can't use anything outside of this kit other than tools and glue. the car then goes down a hill, whichever car gets to the end first wins.

>>3999919
that's lame though.

I have a pinewood derby tomorrow in which we build and race a car in about 3 hours. Last year I won a dremel for this retarded car I made which was consisted of a rounded piece of wood with a 2 inch by 2 inch american flag sticking out of the top. It had so much drag that it couldn't even get to the bottom, which was a good thing because it was too tall to cross the finish line!

Does anyone have any ideas for ridiculous designs for pinewood derby cars? I need to win that last place trophy again this year. Bonus points if it looks cool or interesting.

OK, let's start with bacteria and algea and like primitives. We'll leave the corn and wheat to future /sci's

Imagine a very long line of greenhouses. The first is a regular one the last is a Mars green house, with a Mars atmosphere and Mars soil. The in between ones represent the gradual change from Earth to Mars conditions, each one only slightly different from the next.
You use the seeds from the plants in the first greenhouse to plant the next generation in the second greenhouse. Then you take the seeds from the strongest specimens and plant them in the third greenhouse and so on. Until you have bred plants that can survive on Mars.

Question: Would it work?

If you don't like intro physics or force diagrams (AP Physics C Mech) then do electrical. That's what I did, I am loving it. I am currently in a class where we fabricate integrated circuits. fucking awesome.

Going back in time would not create a paradox, you would just branch off into a different reality, from the exact moment you went back in time, where you went back in time.

Okay but WHY exactly does breaking the speed of light seem to spell disaster as everyone is saying?

It was accepted that the Earth revolved around the Sun for awhile, but when that was proved untrue science adapted.

Instead of reality actually being a simulation, is it possible that the laws of science up until now were just wrong, and now we just have to rewrite the laws of physics??

This is a recent image returned by the Mars surface probe that has the scientific community wondering: is this clear evidence of life on Mars? The low res image has supposedly made it impossible to tell for sure, but the surface in this image appears more grassy, than Mars' typical sand.

There are theories going around that WE brought life to mars with our probes, that some spores have survived the trip and started to grow. It only figures that grass would thrive on Mar's low light, high carbon-dioxide environment.

Whatever it means, it's a frightening image, none the less. I wonder if it really is grass in this picture.

This line of thinking has been historically seen as motivation for 'negative energy' states that were seen to represent antimatter.

chain rule
d/dx (u^r) = r u^(r-1) du/dx

y=(2x)^(1/3)

y = ( u(x) )^(1/3)
u(x) = 2x
du/dx = 2

dy/dx = dy/du du/dx
dy/dx = (1/3) u ^(-2/3) du/dx
dy/dx = (1/3) (2x)^(-2/3) 2

dy/dx = (2/3) (2x)^(-2/3)

v = vo + a t
Solving for initial velocity, vo:
(a.) vo = v - a t
(b.) x - xo = vo t + 1/2 a t^2
Plugging in the vo from (a.) into (b.),
x - xo = (v - a t) t + 1/2 a t^2
x - xo = v t - 1/2 a t^2
Solving for the velocity, v
v = (x-xo)/t + 1/2 a t

Plugging in (x-xo)=23.57m, t=3.7s, and a = 7.5m/s^2,

v = (23.57m)/(3.7s) + 1/2 (7.5m/s^2) (3.7s)

v = 20.2 m/s

It is good to see people like you fighting the retards for the sake of public knowledge, even if only one or two people get FUCKING TOLD in the name of science.

Holy fuck, these threads are worse than fucking RAGE THREADS for me. The level of anthropogenic global warming denial on this board is astounding, especially since now it is on tier with evolution denial.

I am an electrical engineer who worked as a research assistant to an Atmospheric Science professor and let me tell you, seeing the data firsthand, there is no possible way that humans are NOT responsible for global warming. I am staying on to argue for a few mins.
