If a keyboard operator averages 7 errors per page of newsprint, and if these errors follow a Poisson process, what is the probability that exactly 5 errors will be found on a given page?

I'd walk through hell and back for anyone who takes the plunge and starts a project like this. I'm just a 18 year old undergrad but I know I can be of some help. And also there would be very little I would be coming back if to should it fail so I would care for the project like my babby.

The only way I think it would be effective is if we could interact with the underwater landscape without in a air medium.

Could it be mumps? This is the only symptom I'm having, no fever or anything else.

I don't think going to a doctor is necessary as long as we know what it is. If it is still noticeable after 1 week however, I will definitely consider visiting a local doctor (I'm on vacation though, so it won't be easy).

Hey there /sci/. I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this, but it's my best bet on 4chan. I came home today from surfing, and as soon as I looked in a mirror, I noticed my whole right jaw was swollen. After a quick talk with my uncle (surgeon), I believe that it is a swollen parotid gland, which may either be from mumps, or from all the salt water that may have gotten into the gland from my time spent surfing. I'm pretty sure that I wasn't hit or had any pressure applied to the area, so that probably wasn't the cause. The picture included is of my lower face; if you leave comment, diagnosis or a suggestion, it would be very appreciated.

I said yesterday and I'm gonna say it again. All that is needed is that we collect resources and use those resources to collect more resources. Once we have enough we can begin to manufacture our own capital or products to sell for the capital we can't produce ourselves.

Yes I think it will be possible. Look up HTM networks. It was made by Jeff Hawkins and his team at Numenta. It simulate the Neocortex with a fairly simply algorithm. Many would say its going to be another 10 years before we have the processing power to simulate an intelligent brain on this system, however I dont think we need to match the same number of nuerons in the human brain in order to achieve the same intelligence. My theory is that all intelligence is just the intercommunication of the different regions of the neocortex, and if one connected them together just right they could achieve the same level of intelligence of a human being with the use of alot less network nodes.

If aluminum is difficult to move in a magnetic field does that mean it is also difficult for an aluminum atom to vibrate? Essentially meaning if you put aluminum in a magnetic field over time the vibrations in the atoms would be dampened by the subtle changes in the field.

I think they could as the gravitational pull would be slightly stronger o n one side of the box. It would be a very slight difference. The box could however be so small that the difference is so slight one could not measure it.

nvm it wouldn't work and plus the weight of the cable would be far to much to lift.

The parachute would probably be travelling 8x the velocity of the spacecraft but would have taken care of at least 1km of climbing the space craft would have needed to done on its own. Essentially meaning a lot less weight from fuel. Since your energy is coming from an extremely powerful winch on the ground.

>> No.3444149 [View]

>>3444140

the parachute would be the one supporting the weight. The balloon would simply lift the parachute to the needed altitude.
